W artykule przedstawiono problem narastającej w sposób niepokojący tendencji do wzrostu terenów zainwestowanych kosztem terenów biologicznie czynnych. Omówiono, jaką rolę pełni zieleń na terenach zurbanizowanych oraz jak wpływa na kształtowanie jakości i stanu środowiska w mieście. Poruszono zagadnienie zainteresowania planowania przestrzennego ochroną przed degradacją powierzchni biologicznie czynnych.

This paper presents the problem of alarmingly growing tendencies to develop land at the cost of biologically active surfaces. The authors discuss the role of green areas on urban lands and how they affect the urban environment quality and condition. They also mention the issue of the interest of spatial planning in the protection of biologically active land against degradation.

Przedstawiono, jakie działania Polska już podjęła (nowe ustawy), a jakie jeszcze musi podjąć, aby mechanizm zarządzania środowiskiem i pośrednio przestrzenią w Polsce był dostosowany do wymogów Unii Europejskiej.

The authors discuss how the methods of implementation of the EU Directives concerning environmental protection affect spatial planning. They presented Polish activities (new laws and regulation) that have been completed and must still be adopted for the mechanism of environmental management and indirect spatial management in Poland to be adjusted to the EU requirements.
