This article is aimed at pointing out the Thomistic themes contained in Antoni Śmist’s book „Łów mądrości” jako ćwiczenie duchowe. Transcendentalno-anagogiczna interpretacja filozofii Mikołaja Kuzańczyka. The numerosity of Thomistic references throughout the book surpasses the needs induced by simple historical motifs. Antoni Śmist seems to treat Saint Thomas Aquinas not only as a historical reference but also as a representative of philosophia perennis and a permanent discussion partner. In this article are indicated two reasons that could justify such an approach, namely: 1) both Nicholas of Cusa and Saint Thomas Aquinas are treated as continuators of the Aristotelian vein in philosophy, and 2) Nicholas of Cusa seems to posit the knowledge of Aquinas’ thought in his considerations. Antoni Śmist slightly suggests also that it is possible to reconcile Saint Thomas with Nicholas of Cusa. Although the similarity of these philosophers appears somewhat overstated, nonetheless the presence of Saint Thomas’ reflections in Antoni Śmist’s book is unquestionably inspiring.
