The article analyses an episode in the life of Frenchman Jean-Emmanuel Gilibert, professor of natural sciences, who in the 18th century resided in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania and lectured at the Principal School of Lithuania, namely – an attempt to poison him in 1782. Based on the court files and the personal correspondence between the Professor and his wife, details of the incident and the reaction of those involved are reproduced.

Lietuvos Didžiojoje Kunigaikštystėje gyvenusių ir Lietuvos vyriausioje mokykloje dėsčiusių mokslininko botaniko pran- cūzo Žano Emanuelio Žilibero gyvenimo epizodas – bandymas jį nunuodyti 1782 m. Remiantis teisminėmis bylomis ir profesoriaus bei jo žmonos asmenine korespondencija, atkuriamos pasikėsinimo detalės ir reakcija į šį įvykį.
