On the fiction pages of women’s weeklies representing mainstream popular culture, there is a constant migration of literary genres from elite culture into a mix of magazine narratives. As a result, the language and style of fine literature are deconstructed and reduced to magazine formats. This formatting gives literary techniques used in magazines a new function and a kind of aesthetic appeal characteristic of kitsch. The structure and literary forms of women’s magazines turn out to be very effective in organizing spontaneous experiences of women – expressing them in the form of magazine narratives.

Tymoteusza Karpowicza doświadczanie rzeczy słowem

EN
The poetry of Tymoteusz Karpowicz transforms mimetic presentation and projection of reality into an ontohermeneutic poetic process of retracing, thereby becoming the art of aesthetic experiencing things by words. This is possible thanks to the lyrical medium – the literary subject in Karpowicz’s poetry, whose speech evolves into musical spinning, leading the reader into a nebula of expressions and meanings, thus enabling things to emanate from and be highlighted in words. His poetic discourse brings things into being – for his poetry belongs to the after-modernist trend in Polish literature, which emerged from the modernist and postmodernist movements

Czytanie przeciw interpretacji

To read is to cross the boundaries of the self, to give oneself up to the other in an act of participation. Reading is part of the process where truth comes to unveil itself on the ontic plane. In reading it is more important to experience the inexpressible than to express it. To read means to test reality as a text. This summarizes the main points of the article. Reading thus understood iscontrasted here with the practice of interpretation, which ever more often discovers its own theoretical insufficiency.

The article suggests the ontological categories of “becoming visible” and “world becoming visible” as the extension of epistemological categories of presentation and presented world in the literary work. “Becoming visible” is described as the consequence of the strategy to break the coherence and the logics of presentation. Caused by the aesthetic experience and cognition “becoming visible” appears in the Heidegger’s flashing of being.

The decline of the art of the representation in the conception proposed in the article means first of all the change of the function and position of the mimesis in relation to aesthetic experience. If previously aesthetic experience was subordinated to representation, at present the representation has been subordinated to aesthetic experience. The decline of the of the art of representation suggests that the source of the literature perceived first of all as the form of the cognitive consciousness runs short. A rediscovery of art of revealing and participation – inseparable, however, from the art of the literary representation and mimetic mapping of the reality – today takes over the dominant part of the Polish literature of the high level, giving new functions to the representation.

The author indicates the limitations of epistemological concepts of the metaphor and its representating functions. He also analyzes the art of translation in the context of creating metaphorical equivalents and substitutes. Based on the works of Jan Kochanowski he shows a concept of metaphorical speech which makes it possible to experience things and the being in their transcendence. The author suggests a reflection on the revealing properties of metaphorical discourse with its accompanying experiences of an esthetic, metaphysical and religious nature. He shows the relationship between metaphorical speech, its unnamed and undefined aspects and the experience of transcendence. This kind of literary interpretation reveals the transcendent horizon of metaphorical speech in the speech which establishes a direct contact with infinity.
