W opracowaniu dokonano przeglądu najczęściej występujących w literaturze przedmiotu przesłanek strategii dywersyfikacji. Podjęte rozważania koncentrują się na identyfikacji motywów strategii dywersyfikacji w perspektywie wybranych szkół zarządzania strategicznego, w szczególności szkoły planistycznej, pozycyjnej i zasobowej. Przyjęta optyka wskazuje, jakie aspekty na przestrzeni lat determinowały przedsiębiorstwa do rozszerzania działalności.

. The paper reviews the most common reasons for diversification strategy. The deliberation put the emphasis on identify motives to diversify from the perspective of the selected strategic management school. The particular attention was paid to the Planning School, the Positioning School and the Resource Based-View. Presenting a point of view demonstrates why firms diversify throughout the years.
