The article concerns chosen problems that might occur when describing culinary vocabulary in dialects. The material consists of names of soups used by the inhabitants of Bukowiec Górny and shows that their analysis requires consideration of internal diversity of the language of the villagers resulting from generation changes, regional and family traditions, historical and ethnographic context.
