The article presents identify the problem of an aging population, indicates the causes and effects of aging. In Poland and all over the world there is systematicmatic increase in the total population of the elderly who are at least 60 years of age. The increase in the number of older people in society due to two phenomena: the growth in life expectancy and declining birth of children. The result is a faster increase in the number of elderly people than the growth of the newly born.
