Paula Meehan is one of the most important contemporary Irish poets. Her work, rooted in social and spiritual experience, explores themes of exclusion, suffering, and the female voice. Raised in a working-class district of Dublin, she blends realism with mythology and symbolism, giving voice to those who are often unheard. Meehan has received numerous literary awards and served as the Ireland Professor of Poetry from 2013 to 2016.

Paula Meehan to jedna z najważniejszych współczesnych poetek Irlandii. Jej twórczość, zakorzeniona w doświadczeniu społecznym i duchowym, porusza tematy wykluczenia, cierpienia i kobiecego głosu. Wychowana w robotniczej dzielnicy Dublina, łączy realizm z mitologią i symboliką, nadając głos tym, którzy zwykle są niesłyszani. Otrzymała liczne nagrody literackie, a w latach 2013–2016 pełniła prestiżową funkcję irlandzkiej Profesor Poezji (Ireland Professor of Poetry).
