W roku 1999 Rzeczpospolita Polska stała się pełnoprawnym członkiem Sojuszu Północnoatlantyckiego. Po siedemnastu latach członkostwa bez wątpienia można stwierdzić, że Polska stała się nie tylko państwem bardziej bezpiecznym, ale także odgrywającym istot-niejszą rolę na arenie międzynarodowej. Dzięki przynależności do struktur NATO Polska skorzystała z inwestycji infrastrukturalnych, które pozwoliły na modernizację lotnisk czy baz morskich. Jednak członkostwo w NATO to także obrona kolektywna jak i Siły Odpowiedzi NATO (NATO Response Forces). Aby Siły Zbrojne RP mogły w nich skutecznie funkcjono-wać konieczna była ich transformacja. Konieczne było także stworzenie systemu odzyskiwa-nia izolowanego personelu, który ma zastosowanie do wszelkiego rodzaju operacji prowadzo-nych przez Sojusz Północnoatlantycki. W artykule przedstawiono podstawową terminologię związaną z odzyskiwaniem izolowanego personelu, obszary działań, w których funkcjonuje system odzyskiwania personelu czy opcje odzyskiwania izolowanego personelu. Istotnym elementem opracowania jest także zakres operacji odzyskiwania personelu oraz kierunki działań Sił Zbrojnych RP w kontekście zda-rzeń związanych z izolowaniem personelu.

In 1999, the Republic of Poland became a rightful member of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. After seventeen years of membership, one may certainly say that during this period Poland has become a state not only safer but also playing more significant part in the international arena. Because of joining the NATO structures, Poland has taken advantage of infrastructure investments which helped in modernization of airports and navy bases. How-ever, NATO membership also means collective defence and NATO Response Forces. For the Military Forces of the Republic of Poland to function within them effectively, their transfor-mation was necessary. It was also significant to create the system of the isolated personnel recovery which is used in all kinds of NATO operations. The article presents the basic terminology related to the recovery of isolated personnel, areas of the functioning of the system and options of recovering isolated personnel. An important element of the article is also the scope of operations of personnel recovery, as well as direc-tions of actions of the Military Forces of the Republic of Poland in context of events related with isolating personnel.
