The article is devoted to the phenomenon of the so-called indirect nomination occurring in anthroponyms. It refers to those personal names that are derived from a name of another person, e. g. Mikhail’s daughter is called Mikhailovna. The author provides a classification of anthroponyms formed by the process of indirect nomination and a detailed analysis of the individual types.
The author presents in her article the process of establishing of onomastic terminology. Important experiences were gained thanks to the project of Slavic onomastic terminology. It is stressed that for successful work in the field of terminology it is substantial to compile a corpus of terms used by contemporary onomasticians from different countries and their definitions, adducing examples of the used terms.
