The article indicates a close relationship between the death rate in water and the characteristic features of a modern lifeguard. In writers’ opinion the problem of mortality in water should be perceived precisely from the angle of a lifeguard’s features. They indicate their change emphasising not his athletic and swimming skills, but solely his rescuing abiltities and psychological predisposition.

Artykuł wskazuje na ścisły związek pomiędzy skalą śmiertelności w wodze a cechami, jakimi charakteryzuje się współczesny ratownik. Zdaniem Autorów problem śmiertelności w wodzie należy postrzegać głównie właśnie poprzez pryzmat cech ratownika. Wskazują oni na ich zmianę, podkreślając nie jego umiejętności atletyczne i pływackie, ale umiejętności stricte ratownicze oraz predyspozycje psychiczne.
