The above observation applies to R. Burgan who has presented a quasi-critical analysis of the evolutionary ontological concept of J. Šmajs presented in Šmajs’ proclamation of A Lease on Earth. The critic has used non-standard methods to analyse the text, either lifting the original idea out of context, or wilfully twisting the words in order to put forward a speculation of his own which has no relation to the topic. He declares his own presumptions to be the logical conclusions of the ideas of J. Šmajs, and he labels references as naive and incompetent in order to prepare the ground for the presentation of his “real experts”. The difference between “culture” and “civilisation” does not make sense to the critic, but this does not stop him accusing the author of intentionally hiding the identity of the true culprits of the ecological crisis. This article serves the purpose of defending the inspirational and constructive conception of J. Šmajs against the incompetent, prejudiced and malevolent criticism of R. Burgan.
