This paper aims at analyzing the argument and event structure of the constructions with the verb mieć and (partially) reanalyzed participles, which are described as the “new perfect” in contemporary Polish. These forms are most frequently analyzed in terms of transitivity, aspect and other overt grammatical criteria so that the limits of their grammatical analysis seem to be reached. This paper offers a model that is oriented on the decomposition concepts (event and argument structure, concepts of generalized semantic roles) and that accordingly allows to evaluate the elaborated limits of grammatical analysis.

This paper investigates various aspects of grammaticalization of Polish and Kashubian periphrastic verb forms with mieć\miec and bëc and participles. The involvement of factors, which are due to language contact or to autonomous development is thoroughly explored and analyzed in the context of basic grammaticalization parameters. At the same time this contribution should prove with valid arguments the thesis of an inhomogeneous, variably realized and partly of others (all above pragmatic) factors dependent grammaticalization der habere-\esse-forms in the Slavia. So this paper refers both to the canonical differences in the realization of single grammaticalization parameters as well as broader developmental tendencies in the Slavia.

This paper investigates a peculiarly polyfunctional Polish mieć constructions with particples of verba dicendi. The forms with mówić/powiedzieć ‚to tell‘, za-/nakazywać ‚to order‘ or wpajać/ wpoić ‚to inculcate‘ will be elaborated not only in the context of their passive interpretations, but also on the background of the extensions in TAM-system as specific grammatical forms of reportative modality. Furthermore, the basic properties of their event structure and role semantics will be adressed. The analysis made in this paper rounds the thesis off that the information transfer can be unterstood as a transfer of possession.
