The article discusses religious humanitarian aid on the example of the Vol-unteer Ministers, an organization attached to the Church of Scientology. The core issue here is the controversy surrounding the activities and the social aftermath of that structure. By examining particular instances, including their activities in Poland, the author attempts a preliminary explanation of the problem and remarks on the allegations made with respect to scientologists.

Mormons are particularly concerned about missionary work, putting much effort into converting non-Mormons into their faith. The proposed text attempts to focus on the goals of the missionary activity of this quasi-Christian new religious movement, to explain the processes by which the Mormons formed their view of conversion and how to achieve them in daily life during missionary work at the early stages of the history of the denomination. An analysis of the idea of mission in the teaching and practice of the Church of Joseph Smith allows us to gain an understanding of the general theological and anthropological principles of modern Mormonism.

Serving on a mission is almost an indispensable part of the image of the adherents of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly known as Mormons, quasi-Christian new religious movement. The next text attempts to analyse and take a closer look at the theme of calling and preparing for the ministry of being a missionary as an attribute of this Church that was founded by Joseph Smith. Starting from an upbringing in the family and social expectations of the Church’s members through education in the Missionary Training Center, we can follow the vocation path and the creative process of the future Mormon missionary who preach the Gospel in various corners of the world. Missionary ministry is important in the life of each Mormon believer, even those who didn’t serve as a missionary, because it leaves a lasting imprint and affects the minds of the members of this new religious group for the rest of their lives.

The paper examines how contemporary ecological crisis and imbalanced social development are approached in the light of the Bahá’í Faith. Deriving their principal tenets from the paradigm of unity and at the same time disjunction from nature, the Baha’is suggest interesting solution to a range of problems, emphasizing spiritually anchored instruments that they employ. Humility with respect to the environment is an important element in the Baha’i doctrine, which is justified on religious grounds. Furthermore, the author underscores the responsibility of members of the community of the faithful for the entirety of social development, as well as outlines the achievements and proposals – objectives already attained and intended – relating to the mitigation of negative outcomes of the crisis and, ultimately, their utter elimination. Finally, the author enumerates specific forms of collaboration between members of the Faith and organizations as well as governments, undertaken in order to further sustainable development on a global and local scale.

The chief aim of this paper is to outline the concept of sustainable development which is integrated into the doctrine of a relatively novel world religion known as the Bahá’í Faith. The study focuses on the description of causes behind the crisis and potential solutions as they are seen by the Baha’is, by means of analysis of their Sacred Writings and more profound insights into the doctrine, in particular where it concerns ecology and social-economic development.
