The article briefly touches the general issue of Polish people in the United States. This includes the origins of connections between two countries like: first notes about Poles in America and later migrations of our countrymen, polish appearances in U.S. history and contribution for American causes (War of Independence, American civil war). On the other hand author tries to summarize Americans’ reactions to polish independence problems in two World Wars and their role in formation of Poland’s borderlines and its future under the authority of The Union of Soviet Socialist Republic. Finally, there are other aspects of mutual connections described in article such as: Polish Diaspora’s activity (in society and politic affairs), U.S. influence on political and economic transformation aft er 1989 in Poland and general character of modern Polish-American relationships.
