Der Ausgangspunkt in diesem Artikel ist die Behauptung, dass der Mensch ein animal symbolicum sei. Die kulturellen Symbole ermöglichen es dem Menschen zu kommunizieren, bilden aber auch ein wesentliches Element in der Gestaltung der Gruppenzugehörigkeit. Unter kulturellen Symbolen spielen auch diese eine wesentliche Rolle, die mit der Musik verbunden sind. Schon immer waren musikalischen Stücke in einem integrativen Aspekt von besonders großer Bedeutung. Der integrative Wert war sowohl mit einer semiotischen Sphäre, die inhaltliche Assoziationen wachrufen konnte, als auch mit einer emotionellen Sphäre und ihren vielseitigen Auswirkungen, verbunden. In dem zweiten Teil dieses Beitrages wird versucht, empirisch zu erforschen, was für eine kommunikative und integrative Bedeutung die ausgewählten musikalischen Fragmente, die aus einem reichen Spektrum der Stilistiken und Gattungen ausgewählt wurden, haben. Für den Versuch wurden Studenten der Pädagogik und Soziologie aus dem Nordosten Polens ausgewählt.

Współczesny świat dynamizuje zmiany w kulturowym obrazie życia jednostek. Dotyczy to także kreowania tożsamości kulturowej, w tym identyfikacji ze zbiorowościami kulturowymi. Czasami może to prowadzić do poważnych dylematów o charakterze egzystencjalnym, w których dziedzictwo kulturowe rodziny z różnych powodów nie znajduje prostej kontynuacji w tożsamości kulturowej jednostki. Przywołane w tekście dwa przykłady dotyczą osób urodzonych w żydowskich rodzinach, które z różnych powodów odnajdują się w kulturowym świecie odmiennym od ich korzeni. W przypadku poety Juliana Tuwima jest to świadomy wybór lokowania swojej tożsamości w polskiej kulturze etnicznej, mimo oporu polskiego środowiska. Silny związek poety z żydowską rodziną, zwłaszcza z matką konfrontowany jest z wolą przynależności do odmiennego kulturowo świata. Zupełnie inaczej jest w drugim przywołanym przypadku. Tutaj młody mężczyzna wychowany w duchu głębokiej religijności w katolickiej rodzinie będąc księdzem dowiaduje się o swoim żydowskim pochodzeniu. Jego dalsze życie to heroiczne próby budowania mostów między odnalezioną tożsamością genetyczną a tożsamością ukształtowaną w trakcie wychowania w przybranej rodzinie. Analiza obydwu jakże charakterystycznych przypadków w perspektywie kształtowania tożsamości kulturowej i odnajdowania się w zróżnicowanym kulturowo świecie może stanowić interesującą inspirację dla pedagogów.

The contemporary world actuates changes in the cultural image of the lives of individuals. This also refers to creating the cultural identity, including the identification with cultural communities. Sometimes it can lead to serious existential dilemmas, in which the cultural heritage of a family for different reasons is not continued in a straightforward way in the individual’s cultural identity. The two examples discussed in the text refer to persons born in Jewish families, who for different reasons find themselves in a world culturally different from their origin. In the case of poet Julian Tuwim, it is a conscious choice to locate his identity in Polish ethnic culture, despite the resistance on the part of Polish society. The poet’s strong relations with his Jewish family, especially his mother, are confronted with the wish to belong to a culturally distinct world. The other case discussed in the work is completely different. A young man raised in the spirit of profound religiosity in a Catholic family learns of his Jewish origin after becoming a Catholic priest. The rest of his life involves heroic pursuits to build bridges between the discovered genetic identity and the identity developed in the process of upbringing in the foster family. The analysis of both cases – very typical from the perspective of formation of cultural identity and coping in the culturally diverse world – may serve as an interesting inspiration for pedagogics.
