The author of a given article discusses the issue of Kuril Islands as a relevant problem for Asian peace and order. She explains the historical background of the confl ict about Kuril, the attempts of a peaceful solution to the confl ict surrounding the Islands between Japan and Russia and contemporary political considerations. The author also presents considerations of the positions of the present rule of the Japan and Russian authorities.

Przedstawia on historyczne tło konfl iktu o Kuryle, próby pokojowego rozwiązania japońsko-radzieckiego (rosyjskiego) sporu o Wyspy oraz współczesne uwarunkowania polityczne. Przedstawia również możliwe scenariusze dalszego rozwoju sytuacji oraz uwarunkowania stanowisk obecnych rządów Cesarstwa Japonii i władz rosyjskich.
