The paper evaluates present-day situation in research on child language and communication development in preschool age. Whereas in the Czech Republic the respective research is not being performed nowadays, in other countries it develops intensively (especially in the framework of educationally applied psycholinguistics) as evidenced by an immense amount of publications. The paper presents a brief survey of research findings in two areas: (1) Sociocultural determinants of child language development, (2) Theory of linguistic input and intake, in relation to learning and teaching in kindergarten. Findings from international researc are compared with the situation in Czech preprimary education.

The survey article should serve as an information for educationists about the situation of andragogy (theory and research of adult education) in the Czech Republic. First, a brief explanation is presented based on definitions of andragogy and its main themes. The second part describes centres of andragogy in five Czech universities. Later on, an overview of main publications of Czech andragogy is given with respect of their relevance for educationists. Finally, some weak features of Czech andragogy are mentioned, especially a lack of empirical research of adult education and learning. This is just an area in which some methods of educational research can be usefully applied.

Etický kodex české pedagogické vědy a výzkumu

The paper describes the issue of ethical guidelines and code of conduct which is not an integrated part of Czech educational science yet. Growing number of publications of research outcomes and a number of application of new techniques and methods are seen as a risk of breaking the ethical norms and principles during both research, and reporting of outcomes. It is argued that Czech educational science needs to create and adopt ethical code of conduct. Authors draw up first ethical guidelines for Czech educational science with the use of foreign ethical codes of conduct.
