The article is an analysis and interpretation of collection of poems Odwrócone światło by Tymoteusz Karpowicz. The research is based on categories of axiological semantics. It includes the theory of image schemata introduced by M. Johnson, developed by T. P. Krzeszowski. The analysis proves that Odwrócone światło is an interesting example of using metaphorical language which is based on cognitive domain of human body. Image schemata WHOLE - PART express basic and supporting negative experience. Metaphors tend to be conventional.
