Affective mechanics of movement. Excavator Ballet by Iza Szostak Following the rhythms of time and space proposed by Katarzyna Kobro, the author looks at the theory and one of Oskar Schlemmer's works (1888-1943) – ”Triadic Ballet” (1922), as well as Iza Szostak's work (1984), entitled ”Excavator Ballet”, whose premiere took place in Krakow in 2015. As she concludes, contemporary references to Constructivist stage practices are characterised by fascination and distrust towards mechanisation and rationalisation, whose clash with the affective layer of human activity reveals the need to accept the risk of losing control and failure.
