This paper aims at presenting the political route of the pro-Islamic Justice and Development Party (tur. Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP) that is ruling Turkey since 2002. The party`s discourse visibly reduces vital political, social and economical processes to the confrontation of „new” Turkey with an „old” one. The former is an immanent part of party`s ideological identity thus evolved substantially during past fifteen years. All this issues will be analyzed in this paper.

Celem artykułu jest ukazanie politycznej drogi proislamskiej Partii Sprawiedliwości i Rozwoju (tur. Adalet ve Kalkınma Partisi, AKP), rządzącej Turcją od 2002 roku. Dyskurs tego stronnictwa sprowadza szereg procesów politycznych, społecznych i gospodarczych do konfrontacji „starej” Turcji z „nową”. Ta ostatnia z kolei stanowi immanentną cechę tożsamości ideowej AKP, która w okresie minionych piętnastu lat uległa istotnym przemianom. Zagadnienia te zostaną omówione w toku wywodu.

The crisis in the Turkey’s relation with EU might have many consequences however an overall importance of bilateral relation will soon contribute to creation of new institutional cooperation model. This opens a question if European Union’s relation with Central Asian states will gain a new impetus? Thus this paper aims to answer the question if the diminishing of Turkey’s role in Europe will automatically make EU’s relations with Central Asia the key ones from the Brussels’ perspective.

Dla Unii Europejskiej kryzys w stosunkach z Turcją może mieć swoje wielorakie konsekwencje, a waga wzajemnych relacji najprawdopodobniej przyczyni się do wypracowania w najbliższej przyszłości nowego modelu instytucjonalnej i przedmiotowej współpracy obu podmiotów. Taki stan rzeczy otwartym czyni pytanie o to czy stosunki Unii Europejskiej z państwami Azji Centralnej zyskają nową dynamikę? Tym samym celem niniejszego artykułu jest rozstrzygnięcie kwestii czy spadek znaczenia Turcji jako partnera dla Wspólnoty przełoży się na automatyczny wzrost znaczenia wspomnianego regionu świata dla Unii Europejskiej.

In the course of the paper the authordiscusses the character of evolution of the party’s program. Since the center-periphery cleavage is widely used in the rhetoric of the two highly controversial political figures of R.T. Erdogan and D. Trump, it is interesting to examine their political careers. Both perform their political routes and construct their electoral appeal on the base of the center-periphery divide. The presented paper in general aims at qualifying the leadership style of both politicians. While the two leaders function in different political entities and traditions, their perception and understanding of politics seems to be quite similar

This paper aims at analyzing the evolution of the electoral strategies of the main oppositional political parties to the Justice and Development Party, which has been in power since 2002. Assuming that due to the increasing autocratization of Turkey’s political system, the opposition’s options for action remain limited, and any eventual victory depends on the ability to form electoral coalitions, the paper will trace the political path taken by the AKP itself and the political parties opposed to it until the elections in 2023. At the same time, the question will be asked about the reasons for the defeat of the opposition parties in 2023. The basic assumption here is that the internally diversified National Alliance failed to construct a comprehensive programmatic offer capable of attracting voters of the ruling party on a massive scale and at the same time it failed to deliver a sufficiently satisfactory offer to its own electorate.

Celem artykułu jest analiza ewolucji strategii wyborczych głównych sił politycznych, opozycyjnych wobec rządzącej od 2002 r. Partii Sprawiedliwości i Rozwoju (AKP). Wychodząc z założenia, że wobec postępującej autokratyzacji systemu politycznego Turcji możliwości działania opozycji pozostają ograniczone, a ewentualne zwycięstwo zależy od zdolności formowania koalicji wyborczych, ukazana w toku wywodu zostanie droga jaką przeszła sama AKP oraz opozycyjne wobec niej stronnictwa polityczne, aż do wyborów w roku 2023. Jednocześnie postawione zostanie pytanie o przyczyny porażki sił opozycyjnych, a punktem wyjścia będzie założenie, że wewnętrznie zróżnicowany Sojusz Narodowy nie zdołał skonstruować realnej programowej oferty zdolnej z jednej strony na masową skalę przyciągnąć wyborców partii rządzącej oraz w wystarczający sposób stanowiącej satysfakcjonującą ofertę dla własnego elektoratu.
