Tradycja to bardzo ważny element kultury akademickiej, dlatego w artykule ukazano, w jaki sposób jest ona podtrzymywana w Akademii im. Jakuba z Paradyża. W opracowaniu znalazły się także odniesienia do historii szkolnictwa wyższego w wymiarze krajowym jak i szerszym. W zakresie omawianego zagadnienia skupiono się na historycznych uwarunkowaniach kształtujących strukturę oraz symbolikę władz uczelni, znakach Akademii, uroczystościach uczelnianych, zabytkowej architekturze znajdującej się w zasobach infrastruktury AJP oraz jej patronach.

Tradition is a very important element of academic culture; therefore, the paper presents how it is upheld in Jacob of Paradies University. It also contains references to the history of higher education in the nationwide as well as broader context. The text offers considerations focusing on historical determinants shaping the organization and symbols of the University’s authorities, its mark, celebrations as well as its historic architecture and patrons.

The article presents the results of literature research related to the issue of Oflag II C Woldenberg, which operated in 1940-1945. This article discusses the monographic publications devoted to the above said camp. The whole has been supplemented with information about other publications, which raised issues of the camp itself as well as prisoners staying there during the Second World War in the Woldenberg camp. The material is a continuation of an earlier publication titled 'Prisoners of Oflag II C in the press releases', which was published in the conference proceedings volume titled 'The cultural heritage of the border region', V. 4. ed. E. Skorupska-Raczynska, J. Rutkowska in Gorzow Wielkopolski, 2011.

The article is concerned about the issue of the history and the names of Polish public universities from the Middle Ages to the present day. In the resulting essay there is an analysis of factors such as: tradition, the validity of normative acts, as well as historical processes, which are the determinants shaping the names of the national universities. Important place in the scope of this discussion is the question of acceptance of the patrons' names by some of the Polish universities. The study focuses on considerations of a historical nature without making the analysis of the language issues. The study is supported by tabular statement, which contains the names of all public universities currently operating in Poland with regard to their historical names, along with the period of their operation.
