Prof. S. Kubicki (living in Berlin), the son of Margarete and Stanisław Kubicki, Polish-German artists, will donate in 2015 to the National Museum in Poznań and the National Museum in Wroclaw about a hundred of drawings and graphics on paper from 1917 to 1922 by the artists who published in the ‘Zdrój’ magazine (Poznań), and who were the members of the Bunt group, which was considered as the most radical Polish expressionist formation of the period of First World War. The collection includes, in addition to works by the Kubickis, also the works by the other members of the Bunt: J. Hulewicz, W. Skotarek, S. Szmaj, J.J. Wroniecki and J. Panieński ( connected with the group from 1919). The act of donation will be accompanied by an exhibition presenting the entire collection. These projects are a great excuse to remind ourselves of the Poznań Expressionists phenomenon. The article analyses the origins of abstract art, which can be traced in the works by the artists cooperating with the ‘Zdrój’ magazine, includes the discussion on selected pieces of art, reveals the most important source of inspiration and finally compares the material with two texts : program article entitled What do we want published in the ‘Zdrój’ magazine and the study by Prof . M. Sobeski, a philosopher from the Adam Mickeiwicz University, written shortly after the closing of the magazine in 1926.
