Publikacja Listu Apostolskiego Antiquum ministerium, w którym papież Franciszek powołał świecki urząd katechety, stała się również okazją do zbadania, jak osoba katechety jest traktowana w post Soborowym Dyrektorium Katechetycznym. Wychodząc z takiej perspektywy i stosując metodologię analityczno-syntetyczną, artykuł zagłębia się w profil katechety, tak jak go przedstawia Dyrektorium Katechetyczne z 2020 r. Tekst naświetla teologiczno-eklezjalny wymiar, który posiada powołanie oraz tożsamość katechetów, a także podejmowane przez nich funkcje, których dzisiaj wymaga Nowa Ewangelizacja. W ten sposób artykuł podkreśla znaczenie oraz zakres świeckiej posługi katechety.

The publication of the Apostolic Letter Antiquum ministerium, through which Pope Francis institutes the lay ministry of a catechist, presents the opportunity to study how the figure of the catechist has been treated in the Post-Council Directories of catechesis. From this framework and with an analytical-synthetic methodology, the article delves into the profile of the catechist as presented in the Directory for Catechesis (2020). The work highlights the vocation’s theological-ecclesial dimension and a catechist’s identity, including their functions in carrying out the catechesis that, at present, the new evangelizing stage of the Church demands. In this way, the study manifests the value and scope of the institution of the catechist ministry.

La publicación de la Carta apostólica Antiquum ministerium, por la que el Papa Francisco instituye el ministerio laical de catequista, presenta la ocasión para estudiar cómo ha sido tratada la figura del catequista en los Directorios de catequesis del postconcilio. A partir de este marco y con una metodología analítico-sintética, el artículo profundiza en el perfil del catequista tal y como lo presenta el Directorio para la Catequesis (2020). El trabajo destaca la dimensión teológico-eclesial que tiene la vocación e identidad del catequista y cuáles son sus funciones para llevar adelante la catequesis que, en la actualidad, reclama la nueva etapa evangelizadora de la Iglesia. De este modo, el estudio manifiesta el valor y el alcance que tiene la institución del ministerio de catequista.
