The aim of this article is an attempt to present the essential features of princely servitude in Ruthenia in the Middle Ages, which seems to be an important stage in the transformation of independent dynasts into the aristocracy of the successor states of Rus: the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth and the Grand Duchy of Moscow. Particular attention was paid to the aspects that distinguished the servant princes from the ruling representatives of the dynasty in the area of the Romanovich state.

Celem niniejszego artykułu jest próba przedstawienia zasadniczych cech książęcej służebności na Rusi w okresie średniowiecza, która wydaje się być ważnym etapem przekształcania się samodzielnych dynastów w arystokrację państw sukcesorów Rusi: Rzeczypospolitej polsko-litewskiej i Wielkiego Księstwa Moskiewskiego. Szczególna uwaga została poświęcona aspektom, które wyodrębniały książąt służebnych od panujących przedstawicieli dynastii na obszarze państwa Romanowiczów.
