This article shows the need to linguistically characterize texts that constitute a corpus in order to enable the historical study of words. Examples about the challenges found in the process are provided by showing the treatment given to fifty documents. These texts allow us to explain the Aragonese origin of the “servar” Latinism used by the Marquis of Santillana.
