The author analyses the emotional experience of the of the younger pupils during their intellectual and social activity. Experience of the pupils is shown in details. It has its roots in educational situations created during the traditional and (currently wanted) updated process of teaching/learning and pedagogical communication.

W artykule dokonano analizy procesu intelektualnego oraz społecznego funkcjonowania młodszych uczniów pod kątem towarzyszących im doznań emocjonalnych. Szczegółowe rozważania ukazują przeżycia, których źródłem są sytuacje edukacyjne, generowane zarówno w toku tradycyjnego, jak i aktualnie pożądanego, zmodernizowanego modelu procesu uczenia się oraz komunikacji pedagogicznej.

The subject of this article is the issue of reading culture, and particularly its meaning for functioning of an individual and society. It is defined as an integral combination of preferences, interests, habits, knowledge and reading skills. It enables an individual to be in contact with a written word in the most beneficial way for development of their personality and creative functioning in society. The author also describes the process of shaping the key language skills such as reading, writing and speaking as well as the phenomenon of reading initiation. In the final part the author submits a draft of an educational campaign for developing reading culture in the local community.

Przedmiotem rozważań w niniejszej publikacji uczyniono zagadnienie kultury czytelniczej, a szczególnie jej znaczenie dla funkcjonowania jednostki i społeczeństwa. Definiuje się ją jako integralny zespół zamiłowań, zainteresowań, nawyków, wiadomości i umiejętności czytelniczych, które umożliwiają jednostce najkorzystniejszy dla rozwoju osobowości i twórczego funkcjonowania w społeczeństwie – kontakt ze słowem drukowanym. Dokonano ponadto charakterystyki procesu kształtowania kluczowych umiejętności językowych, takich jak czytanie, pisanie i mówienie oraz fenomenu inicjacji czytelniczej. W części końcowej zaprojektowano ogólny zarys społeczno- pedagogicznej kampanii na rzecz podnoszenia kultury czytelniczej w środowisku lokalnym.

These reflections refer to preparing children to the role of an adult member of society. In part I the author discusses life skills determining functioning of an individual, including the phenomenon of functional illiteracy and the meaning of reading and writing skills. Deficiencies in this aspect have long-term effects, like drastic decrease of quality of life. Part II includes reflections about intensification of pedagogical measures carried out by parents and teachers which are indispensable in strenghtening the children's personality. They include, among other things, subjectivity, building a positive image of oneself, self-estimation, believing in oneself and self-efficacy. Only a strong personality potential will allow the children to face the life difficulties in the future.

Rozważania dotyczą konieczności przygotowania dzieci do roli dorosłych członków społeczeństwa. W części I omówiono umiejętności życiowe, determinujące funkcjonowanie jednostki, w tym zjawisko analfabetyzmu funkcjonalnego i znaczenie umiejętności czytania oraz pisania. Braki w tym zakresie niosą dalekosiężne skutki, drastycznie obniżające jakość życia. Część II zawiera przemyślenia na temat konieczności intensyfikacji działań pedagogicznych rodziców i nauczycieli niezbędnych w procesie wzmacniania osobowości dzieci. Obejmują one m.in. ich podmiotowość, budowanie pozytywnego obrazu własnej osoby, samoocenę, wiarę w siebie oraz poczucie sprawstwa. Tylko silny potencjał osobowościowy pozwoli im w przyszłości stawić czoło życiowym trudnościom.
