This paper deals with the issue of translation of biblical lexis. We begin by defining key terms, presenting classifications of biblical lexis, and then focus on particular difficulties a translator may encounter when translating biblical lexica. Using the material of Slovak and Russian biblicisms excerpted from contemporary journalistic texts, we conduct an experiment that illustrates how students of the Russian Language in Business and Intercultural Communication bachelor‘s and master‘s degree programmes cope with the translation of religious lexis. In modern student education, the formation of student‘s intercultural competence is a priority. The acquisition of these competences is of particular importance in the training of future linguists and translators.
