In the article, I introduce the interpretation of selected concepts of liberalist think-ers in the perspective of idealisational theory of science, expounded by Piotr Przybysz in the book entitled “Modele teoretyczne we współczesnej filozofii politycznej liberalizmu (Theoretical models in the contemporary political philosophy of liberalism)”. With this purpose in mind, I characterise the fundamental tenets of idealisation and concretisation methodology and quote the principal argumentation threads of Przy-bysz’s for the sake of a thesis that the method of conceptualisation employed by John Rawls, Robert Nozick, James Buchanan and Gordon Tullock may be defined as idealisa-tion of reality. Moreover, I present an attempt at alternative interpretation of Nozick’s vision of socio-political dynamics in the light of idealisational theory of science.

The article discusses the issue of eternal existence of God. The author offers an interpretation of selected excerpts from the New Testament, which show God as pre- or ante-eternal but not post-eternal, which means that He is an entity existing without a beginning but having an ultimate end. In order to support the suggested interpretation, the author formulates a philosophical “mercy-based proof for the current non-existence of God”.

In the article, the author outlines the theory of action by Polish philosopher Leszek Nowak, the so-called non-Evangelical model of the human, which may provide basis for the theoretical integration of various disciplines within humanities. The models overcomes the limitations of the concepts of rationality of action, originating from the assumption that the acting subject always maximizes their own preferences.  Meanwhile, the discussed theory states that apart from the principle of rationality the principles in force in human life include the principle of counter-rationality and irrationality, which consist in maximisation of someone else’s, not one’s own, preferences and counter-preferences, respectively. The previous applications and expansions of the non-Evangelical described in the article demonstrate that the model has been used in the analysis of political, economic and cultural phenomena.  Hence, the model may be a cognitively useful foundation for conducting interdisciplinary research.

The author embarks on the issue of integration of paradigms developed within social sciences. Usually, theoreticians distinguish three pairs of opposing paradigms: materialism/idealism, holism/individualism, and antagonism/solidarism. The papers argues that Leszek Nowak’s theory of non-Marxian historical materialism, after a revision of some of its underlying conceptual premises, might become a theory which overcomes one-sidedness of particular paradigms. The author’s view is that modification of two premises, i.e. radical materialism, antagonistic notion of social being will make it possible to formulate a general social theory which integrates the paradigms in question. The article outlines the idea of a general social theory construed in this fashion.

In the article, I discuss the title opposition nature–culture in the perspective of is-sues presented by the interdisciplinarity of science. I attempt to elucidate the definition of interdisciplinarity utilising certain ways in which the notion of science is construed, and indicating three levels of potential integration of interdisciplinary research: on-tological, methodological and theoretical. Apart from that, the article addresses the standpoints of reductionism and anti-reductionism as well as the questions of classify-ing scientific disciplines. The final parts of the text outline the possibility of conduct-ing interdisciplinary studies in the light of the language of action theory, which may become a concept which integrates various domains of scientific knowledge.

The COVID-19 pandemic in the public space has been perceived primarily as a health risk and a threat to lives of millions of people. The danger caused by the virus, or in fact any other crisis, enforces but at the same time also enables the introduction of alternative social practices. The pandemic crisis marks the time when the previous activities, also in the organisation of culture and participation, are being abandoned while new practices are being developed. The article presents the theoretical assumptions in light of which a crisis – defined as the insufficient satisfaction of human needs on a mass scale – is a period of far-reaching social changes that may permanently transform society. These changes are the result of what the article refers to as consciousness alternativeism, which emerges in response to the crisis situation and unsatisfied needs. Based on these theoretical assumptions, the author analyses the changes in the organisation of cultural events described in selected reports and articles, the alternative forms of operation of cultural institutions and the communication channels they use to reach their audiences with their artistic offer.

The article discusses the issue of the reduction relationship between theories of action within the conceptual framework of the idealizational theory of science. The analysis of the relation between the concept of a rational act and the concept of a habitual-rational action leads to the conclusion that not all necessary conditions for the occurrence of the reduction relationship are fulfilled in this case. Although the two theories are conceptually compatible, they differ with respect to the hierarchy of essential factors, so there is an essentiality disagreement between them. In the light of the idealizational theory of science, for a reduction relationship to occur between two theories, essentiality agreement between them is required. That conclusion becomes, in turn, the starting point for a critical analysis of essentiality agreement between theories as a necessary condition for reduction in the field of the humanities. The art-icle ends with a postulate of weakening this condition with respect to theories formulated in the social sciences and the humanities due to the methodological specificity of this domain, e.g. the qualitative and less precise language and the lack of the possibility of conducting repeated experiments in the course of which particular factors could be effectively isolated.

The author discusses systematization of scientific disciplines. He presents two methods of systematization, namely: classification which uses logical divisions, and typologization which relies on Weberian method of defining ideal types. Faced with certain weaknesses of the classification and typologization, the author proposes still another method of science systematization, which he calls ‘theoretical positioning’. Such systematization is accomplished by defining a selected theory with respect to the research processes employed in it. At the time when interdisciplinary studies are becoming more and more popular, theoretical positioning is a useful method of systematization for research purposes. It arranges scientific disciplines in an order that displays their theoretical affinities. That method of systematization not only organizes the multitude of scientific disciplines but also indicates which areas of cooperation can be most promising. Alongside that study, the author also discusses the possibility of theoretical positioning of sciences by employing conceptual categories used in theory of action which, appropriately conceptualized, could serve as effective interdisciplinary instruments.
