This article provides an overview and shows new dimensions of individual and social uncertainty, the existence of which was empirically confirmed in the first year of the pandemic, or in other words during a period of particular intensification of fears and anxieties. The first part of the article reviews various approaches to the state of uncertainty from sociological, psychological and social policy perspectives. In the second section, selected uncertainty indicators are presented, confirming the thesis that the COVID-19 pandemic caused an increase in fears and concerns in several dimensions at the same time. The findings of sociological research on selected social categories and the results of surveys conducted by CBOS (the Public Opinion Research Center) were used for this.

The article contains considerations on the possibility of treating a crisis situation as a result of other problems and difficulties, sometimes hidden, which previously occured, that contribute to the weakness and inability of a human being to continue functioning. The assumption that a crisis situation is a complex combination of many problems allows for a different view of the support system. The article presents arguments in favor of recognizing a crisis situation as a state of multiple problems a person cannot cope with on their own. The main features of the support system as part of crisis intervention and some imperfections of its functioning were also characterized.

W niniejszym artykule została zwrócona uwaga na liczne dylematy, które towarzyszą współczesnej rodzinie, która nadal, pomimo wielu przemian strukturalno-funkcjonalnych, realizuje spory zakres zobowiązań w ramach niepisanego kodeksu moralnego nakazującego wzajemne świadczenie różnych usług i form wsparcia. W pierwszej części artykułu została przybliżona istota solidarności rodzinnej, w części drugiej – główne zasady, na których się ona opiera. W części trzeciej przedstawione zostały dylematy związane z realizacją zasad solidarności rodzinnej wobec najstarszego pokolenia w rodzinie. W części czwartej artykułu przedstawiono dylematy związane z realizacją zasad solidarności rodzinnej wobec młodego pokolenia w rodzinie.

This article draws attention to the many dilemmas that arise in the modern family; despite many structural and functional changes, the family continues to face a large range of obligations under an unwritten moral code that requires the mutual provision of various services and forms of support. The first part of the article discusses the essence of family solidarity, while the second part considers the main principles on which this solidarity is based. The third part presents dilemmas connected with implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the eldest generation in the family, and the fourth part covers dilemmas related to implementing principles of family solidarity in regard to the young generation in the family.
