Przedmiotem mojego zainteresowania są reakcje, które wzbudziły dwa filmy – Pokłosie oraz Ida. Twierdzę, że kontrowersje, jakie wywołały, są wynikiem przyjmowania pozytywistycznej koncepcji historii i zawodu historyka. Staram się także pokazać, że umieszczenie obu filmów w innej perspektywie – studiów nad pamięcią i filozofii historii proponowanej przez Franka Ankersmita – pozwala wydobyć ich pozytywny potencjał dla wspólnoty budowanej jako przestrzeń nowoczesnej demokracji.

My interest here is to assess the critical reactions raised by the two recent Polish movies: Aftermath and Ida. I claim that controversies that have been brought about by them are the result of a positivistic view on history and on profession of a historian. I try to show that putting those movies in a different perspective – that is the studies on memory and Frank Ankersmit’s philosophy of history – should allow us to reveal their affirmative potential in building a community meant as a space of modern democracy.

The starting-point of my essay is conviction of wide-spread crisis of western civilization. The analysis of this crisis was achieved basing on the Horkheimer's theoretical settlements which are leading to show typical of Plato character of western culture. Basing on the example of 'solar myth' presented by Plato in "Politeia", it is shown totalitarian and captivating human-beings paideia model, which is being realized till the present day in the Mediterranean culture region. Dictatorial, anti-humanistic and oppressing elements of Platonism and related to it civilization, are shown from the G. Bataille's settlements point of view. In his project, ones are suspecting the chance of liberation of human-being.

In the paper I argue that the source of unrests which torment Europe is the crisis of agency. Referring to Alain Tourain and Joseph E. Stiglitz I try to show that one of the most important sources of crisis of agency are economic disparities and financial capitalism. I also argue that the remedy for the crisis of agency are actions that aim at bringing back the agency to as many actors as possible.

W artykule stawiam tezę, że źródłem niepokojów, które trawią Europę, jest kryzys sprawstwa. Za Alainem Touraine’em i Josephem E. Stiglitzem staram się pokazać, że jednym z ważniejszych źródeł kryzysu sprawstwa są nierówności ekonomiczne i kapitalizm finansowy. Twierdzę także, że remedium na kryzys są działania mające na celu przywrócenie sprawstwa jak największej liczbie aktorów.
