This study examines teacher-student interactions in Vietnam’s educational reform, comparing public and private schools and identifying influencing factors. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research involved surveys (126 teachers, 189 students), interviews (5 teachers, 4 students), and classroom observations (4 classes). Results showed that interactions were mostly cooperative, emphasizing understanding and helpfulness. However, students rated strictness higher and freedom lower than teachers, highlighting differing expectations. Public schools showed more structure, while private schools emphasized flexibility and support. Influencing factors included social media, school type, parental involvement, and student behavior. Social media increased teachers’ emotional demands, while parental socioeconomic status shaped authority and engagement. Student misbehavior posed challenges for maintaining discipline.
