The family should be the most important and the safest educational environment, as having a family is essential at every stage of life. The family determines the conditions for the individual's personality development, satisfies important biological and psychological needs, gives a sense of life, inspires to be active, facilitates growing into the world of culture and adapting to the norms and values in it. The following article presents an analysis of selected social changes taking place in the contemporary family and their consequences, paying spe-cial attention to traditions that affect the present and create the future.

Rodzina powinna być najważniejszym, podstawowym oraz bezpiecznym środowiskiem wychowawczo–edukacyjnym, ponieważ jest potrzebna w każdym okresie życia. To ona określa warunki indywidualnego rozwoju osobowości jednostki, zaspakaja istotne potrzeby biologiczne i psychiczne, daje poczucie sensu życia, inspiruje do aktywności, ułatwia wrastanie w świat kultury oraz przyswajanie obowiązujących w nim norm i wartości, chroni i wspomaga w sytuacjach trudnych. W artykule przedstawiono analizę społecznych przemian zachodzących we współczesnej rodzinie i ich konsekwencje zwracając szczególną uwagę na tradycje, które wpływają na teraźniejszość i budują przyszłość.
