W artykule ukazano problemy związane z projektem budowy kopalni węgla brunatnego i elektrowni wykorzystującej ten surowiec na terenie gmin Brody i Gubin. Gminy te położone są na terenie województwa lubuskiego. Projektowane działania zniszczą bezpowrotnie dotychczasowy zrównoważony model rozwoju turystyki na wspomnianym obszarze. Model ten opiera się na wykorzystaniu walorów środowiska przyrodniczego, szczególnie dominujących na terenie obu gmin obszarów leśnych. Dezintegracji ulegnie także lokalna społeczność wraz z jej walorami kulturowymi. Z drugiej zaś strony proces rekultywacji terenów pokopalnianych umożliwi w perspektywie kilkudziesięciu lat rozwój nowych form turystyki opartych na nowej specyfice tego miejsca.

The article discusses problems connected with the project of building a brown coal mine and a power station using this material in Brody and Gubin municipalities. These municipalities are located in Lubuskie Voivodship. The proposed actions will irretrievably destroy a previous model of sustainable tourism development in the mentioned area. This model is based on using the environmental values, especially dominating in both communities – forest land. The disintegration will also include the local community with its cultural values. On the other hand a reclamation process of post-mining land will allow in the perspective of several decades a development of new forms of tourism based on a new specific character of this place.
