The edition of correspondence comprises 11 letters of Prof. Hosak addressed to Doc. Kutnar from the years 1958–1969. It provides an interesting witness not only of the friendly relationship and scientific cooperation between the two university pedagogues, but also of the inner life and changes in the department of history of the Philosophical Faculty of Palacky University in Olomouc. The letters also depict the circumstances of the origin and beginnings of the homeland study periodical Krkonose-Podkrkonosi. They provide an insight into the mentality of a university employee towards the end of his professional career in the difficult conditions of the 1960s.
The edition contains ten letters sent to Ladislav Hosák by František Kutnar in the years 1947–1969. The two letters sent to congratulate Hosák on his 60th and 70th birthday in 1958 and 1968, respectively, are of particular interest; the first expresses Kutnar’s emotional ties to the historical city of Olomouc and the fertile Haná region, the second contains a profound reflection on the August 1968 occupation of Czechoslovakia and the fate of a nation in Central Europe. The other letters from the 1960s are mostly professional in nature, they inform about works awaiting publication or those that were already published, and they are partially connected to the newly founded journal Krkonoše – Podkrkonoší. The edition follows the first part, which contains letters sent to František Kutnar by Ladislav Hosák (Historica: Revue pro historii a příbuzné vědy, 3, 2012, no. 2, pgs. 191–207).
