Comparison of the values of seasonal indices of vital processes in different populations may constitute a basis for causal explanation of their forms, but is difficult to conduct directly on the basis of empirical time series. In the paper a method of data standardization is proposed, which enables many-sided comparisons of seasonal variation of different vital processes. The applied method of estimation takes into account the stochastic nature of the processes. Empirical research carried in the Slaskie voivodeship (Poland) registered many statistically significant differences in births and deaths seasonal variation between urban and rural areas.
