The application of strategic approach to management in the libraries of higher vocational schools may secure a systematic development of those libraries and stabilize their positive public image as well as the image of schools they are affiliated to. The organization of libraries and strong competition in the sector of education services require them to create institutional visions and missions, bringing the management and marketing strategy as a considerable challenge to their managers. In the process of designing and implementing a strategy for a library of a higher vocational school questions on the following issues have to be answered: library tasks and operation, current and future objectives, needs of mother institutions and users' expectations. In order to hold a strong position in the sector of academic libraries libraries of higher vocational schools need to follow appropriate and consistent management solutions and consider employment of marketing approach.
