Sustainable growth from the perspective of new strategies for the European Union social development addresses the problem of importance of the sustainable development paradigm in the proposed and currently discussed document “Europe 2020. The strategy to strengthen smart growth fostering inclusive economy”. It also indicates certain risks that its realization may bring for rural areas and farming.

The article Development of Economic Culture in terms of regional differentiation of rural areas relates to the issue of individualisation of development policies in the area of creating economic culture. Pointing to the nature and significance of economic culture as a factor of economic development, the author advocates a focus on some of the support instruments in order to influence its shape, taking into account Polish regional differences. The article uses the achievements of economic and sociological research based on the methodology of desk research and the use of its own research achievements.

Artykuł odnosi się do kwestii zindywidualizowania polityki rozwoju regionalnego w zakresie kreowania kultury ekonomicznej. Wskazując na istotę i znaczenie kultury ekonomicznej jako czynnika rozwoju gospodarczego, autorka opowiada się za położeniem nacisku na niektóre instrumenty wsparcia w celu oddziaływania na jej kształt, z uwzględnieniem zróżnicowania regionalnego Polski. Artykuł wykorzystuje dorobek badań socjologicznych i ekonomicznych w oparciu o metodologię desk research oraz badania własne.

The article addresses the connection between social development of rural areas and investment in human capital of the young generation. An important role is attributed to economic education, which would allow for more efficient movement of not only individuals but also communities in the modern world. The theses the article points out that despite the steady increase of human capital in rural areas, it still differs significantly from the one that characterises the inhabitants of large cities in particular. Despite the passing years disparities endure, even among the younger generation, which may adversely affect the further possibilities of social development in rural areas. Therefore, greater importance should be assigned to economic education in the process of formal, as well as informal training.

Artykuł podejmuje problem ścisłego związku rozwoju społecznego obszarów wiejskich z inwestowaniem w kapitał ludzki młodego pokolenia. Istotną rolę przypisuje się edukacji ekonomicznej, która pozwalałaby na skuteczniejsze poruszanie się poszczególnych jednostek i całych zbiorowości we współczesnym świecie. W tezach artykułu podkreślono, że pomimo stałego wzrostu wskaźników kapitału ludzkiego na wsi, nadal znacząco odbiegają one od charakteryzującego mieszkańców zwłaszcza dużych miast. Mimo upływu lat, utrzymują się dysproporcje, także wśród młodego pokolenia, co może negatywnie oddziaływać na dalsze możliwości rozwoju społecznego obszarów wiejskich. W procesie kształcenia formalnego i nieformalnego należy więc przypisać większą rangę edukacji ekonomicznej.
