The work is sketches about culture, including post-modern education in terms of polytheistic anthropology. This perspective enabled Tomasz Olchanowski to create a coherent work referring to Greek mythology and the ideas of other, non-European philosophical and religious systems, as well as personal perceptions of the knot problems of post-modern culture, especially in our country. According to the author, it may not be the voice of the majority, but of the minority, sometimes of dissenters, hermits and children, that may be appropriate in such an analysis. The work indicates the need for a renewed hermeneutics of the work of ancient Greek philosophers and for a re-interpretation of works that are classics of Western philosophy and other cultures. The work is a thoughtful work and contribution to the development of social sciences and humanities in Poland, both pedagogy of culture and depth as well as European cultural studies, Far East and other cultures, and with its rich content and presented results of the author's investigations proves the need for interdisciplinary research in these disciplines.

Praca stanowi szkice dotyczące kultury, w tym edukacji ponowoczesnej w ujęciu antropologii politeistycznej. Perspektywa ta umożliwiła Tomaszowi Olchanowskiemu stworzenie spójnego dzieła odwołującego do mitologii greckiej i idei innych, pozaeuropejskich systemów filozoficzno-religijnych oraz na osobiste percepcje węzłowych problemów kultury ponowoczesnej, zwłaszcza w naszym kraju. Zdaniem autora nie głos większości, ale mniejszości, czasem odszczepieńców, pustelników i dzieci, może okazać się tym właściwym w takiej analizie. Dzieło wskazuje na potrzebę ponownej hermeneutyki twórczości starożytnych greckich filozofów oraz na ponowną interpretację dzieł stanowiących klasykę filozofii Zachodu i innych kultur. Praca to przemyślane dzieło i wkład w rozwój nauk społecznych i humanistycznych w Polsce, zarówno pedagogiki kultury i głębi, jak i kulturoznawstwa europejskiego, dalekowschodniego i innych kultur, a swą bogatą zawartością i prezentowanymi rezultatami dociekań Autora udowadnia potrzebę prowadzenia badań interdyscyplinarnych właśnie w tych dyscyplinach.

An author focused on review of pedagogical thought of Mencius, second, aft er Confucius, most important Confucian, that in great measure shaped that philosophical-religious system. Generally, Mencius is not mentioned in Polish pedagogical literature, that is why the author presented his philosophical, social, political, psychological and pedagogical views as well as their relations to principles of modern pedagogical trends, especially with existential, personalistic, cultural and antiauthoritarian pedagogics and some currents in psychology and humanistic pedagogics like holistic one. Th e author particularly dealt with Confucianism issues in Polish pedagogical writing, social order and educational ideal according to Confucius, Mencius’s educational ideal, principles and methods of moral education trends and teaching methods as well as associations between pedagogical conception of Mencius and principles of modern currents of Western pedagogics. Th ese associations are particularly placed in a fi eld of moral education, education for freedom and spiritual self-realization, thanks to realization of essence of humanity, that in Western pedagogics was set by Kant’s idealism. Acquaintance of Mengzi’s pedagogical thought allows also to understand modern paradigms and pedagogical rationality better.
