The article contains the analysis of the results of empirical studies made in 1976 among the young workers from a medium sized, industrial town. Two groups were selected: youths living in a lodging-house for workers (182 persons: 89 men and 93 women) and youths from the neighbourhood concentrating around the parishes (182 persons:80 men and 102 women). The results of the analysis are the following: 1. The religiousness of youths from the parochial group is more intensive than the religiousness of the lodging-house group which can be explained by the character of the two environments. 2. The youths belonging to the parochial group display more intensive attitudes towards work than the lodging-house group which can be explained by the influence of religion on work. 3. The types of attitudes towards religion and the character of religiousness are connected with the intensity of the attitudes towards work. That means that the more conscious and deeply religious the youth is, the more intensive their attitudes towards work. In other words, not only religiousness in general but also the "quality” of that religiousness favourably affect attitudes towards work.
