The article presents one of the newest proposal in research for a general theory of public relations. The most popular general theories of public relations, i.e. the excellence theory, the contingency theory, the relationship management theory are corpocentric. They assumes, that organizations “invented” public relations. One of the newest approach based on the stakeholder theory shows that the discipline derives from the group standing vis-a-vis organization, mainly activists. Moreover, it particularly emphasizes the role of ethics and power within the process of creating and maintaining of relationships.

The text discusses the possibility of applying the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) into the research of various communication phenomena. Methodologically the author refers to the CDA version of its precursor, Norman Fairclough, as well as to the Public Relations conceptual apparatus. The research is based on the combination of basic elements of Public Relations social practice with semiological structure that is identified as genres, discourses and styles, which are then recognized as the specific order of discourse. Such a frame enables the author, on the one hand, to present a clear description of the analyzed phenomena, and on the other hand, allows to apply a interdisciplinary approach to them. To illustrate how this approach works the author analyses the famous case of Fr. Piotr Natanek from Grzechynia near MakówPodhalański and his involvement in the enthronization movement and his conflict with the Archbishop of Cracow.

On October 19, 2017, Piotr Szczęsny set himself on fire in front of the Palace of Culture and Science in Warsaw. He died ten days later as a result of injuries. In the letters he left behind, he explained that this act was an expression of opposition to the situation in Poland and the policy of the Law and Justice government. This event triggered a hot debate, among others, about the borders of political protests and the moral evaluation of suicide. The text aims at finding answers to the following questions: (1) what communication mechanisms were then launched and (2) what discursive strategies emerged during the public debate triggered by Piotr Szczęsny’s self-immolation. The study used the conceptual apparatus of Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA). The article is an example of applying this analytical approach to the study of complex and opaque social phenomena.

This article is devoted to discussing the possibility of treating malignant brain tumors in the Mazovia region. The difficult clinical problem confronted by doctors and scientists is discussed in relation to the complex nature of gliomas. The current state-of-the-art treatment along with its limitations is subjected to discussion. The opportunities available to Mazovian doctors, which can be used to significantly prolong and improve the quality of patients’ lives, are presented in detail. Finally, the paper presents the wide range of possibilities for scientific cooperation and the directions it should take in order to learn more about the genesis of brain cancer and make it curable.

Artykuł ten poświęcony jest omówieniu możliwości leczenia złośliwych nowotworów mózgu w województwie mazowieckim. Omawiany jest złożony problem kliniczny, dotyczący skomplikowanej natury guzów glejopochodnych. Obecny schemat leczenia jest poddawany pod dyskusję wraz z jego ograniczeniami. Przedstawiane są możliwości, z których mogą korzystać lekarze mazowieckich szpitali, mające istotny wpływ na zwiększenie jakości, jak i przedłużenia życia pacjentów. Na zakończenie przedstawione są szerokie możliwości współpracy naukowej oraz jej kierunki mające na celu poznanie genezy nowotworów mózgu, aby w przyszłości uczynić je uleczalnymi.
