Celem artykułu jest zbadanie roli i wpływu uwarunkowań społecznych na rozwój przedsiębiorczości w świetle doświadczeń USA. Zarówno socjologia jak i kultura odgrywają ważną rolę i wywierają znaczący wpływ na stymulację rozwoju przedsiębiorczości w USA. W publikacji położono szczególny nacisk na kluczowe zmienne wykorzystywane w badaniach dotyczących przedsiębiorczości, takie jak: płeć, rasa, wiek i wykształcenie (czynniki społeczne), ich wpływ na przedsiębiorczość oraz rolę w rozwoju przedsiębiorstwa. Uwagę poświęcono również wpływowi czynników kulturowych na krajobraz przedsiębiorczości.

The purpose of this paper is to study the role and the influence of social determinants on development of entrepreneurship in the light of experiences of the United States - a cradle of entrepreneurship and innovation. Both sociology and culture play an important role and highly influence the stimulation of development of American entrepreneurship. The paper puts special emphasis on the key variables in traditional entrepreneurial studies such as: gender, race, age, and education (social measures), their influence on entrepreneurship and role in enterprise development. It is also concerned with the influence of culture on entre-preneurial landscape.

Od lat osiemdziesiątych Chiny dokonały ogromnych inwestycji w rozbudowę infrastruktury naukowej i technologicznej, a nauka i przedsiębiorczość oraz system finansowania przeszły długą ewolucję. Omawiając poszczególne etapy tego rozwoju – program TORCH, klastry innowacyjności, inkubatory biznesu ukierunkowane na nowe technologie, kapitał zalążkowy Innofund, źródła finansowania przedsięwzięć wysokiego ryzyka – autor dokonuje porównania z rozwojem tego sektora w USA po II wojnie światowej. Podkreśla analogie, ale również szczegółowo omawia różnice wynikające nie tylko z systemu gospodarczego Chin, ale przede wszystkim z odmienności kulturowych, tradycji oraz etyki w biznesie.
