In this paper, we present and analyse the so-called Czechoslovak trilogy by the contemporary French author Sylvie Germain, which consists of three independent works: La Pleurante des rues de Prague (1992), Immensités (1993) and Éclats de sel (1996). Using the methodological basis of the thematicism and the classification into hyperonymic categories, we establish the recurrent thematic elements that have to do with the spiritual quest in the narrative plot of these works. At the same time, we point out the numerous references Sylvie Germain makes to Czech and Slovak literature and art. Her profound knowledge of the culture of this Central European country and her desire to make it more visible in France means that Sylvie Germain’s Czechoslovak trilogy can be considered as one of the cultural bridges between the West and the East.
