The article raises the issue of language disability in adults resulting from dyslexia and manifested by written language disorders. This is how it tries to change the tradition of research on dyslexia, which is mostly focused on the school period and educational problems. In addition to the selective linguistic analysis of the text samples – which is the main part of the thesis – the article also looks at the other symptoms generally found in adults with dyslexia, which can significantly complicate the daily functioning.

Artykuł podejmuje wątek deficytów językowych wynikających z dysleksji, dotyczących osób dorosłych i manifestujących się zaburzeniami języka pisanego. Tym samym próbuje odejść od tradycji badań nad dysleksją, które w większości koncentrują się na okresie nauki szkolnej i problemach edukacyjnych. Oprócz wybiórczej analizy językoznawczej próbek tekstowych, która stanowi główną część pracy, w tekście zwrócono też uwagę na ogół symptomów występujących u dorosłych z dysleksją, które w znacznym stopniu mogą komplikować codzienne funkcjonowanie.

Structural and Functional Asymmetries in the Brain in the Light of Lateralization and Development of Language Competences

The article presents the issue of the development of linguistic competence in the context of neurobiological research which points to the functional asymmetry of the brain. A reflection of this asymmetry is, among other things, lateralization of paired organs of the body. The author presents the results of studies indicating a connection between the development of lateralization and the development of language. She also emphasizes the need for therapeutic intervention for children with ambidexterity, cross or left-sided laterality. Moreover, the aim of the article is to sensitize people working with pre-school children to the issue of delays in dominance of paired organs. This is because delayed lateralization is in many cases accompanied by speech disorders.13 Page to25

The article is a linguistic analysis of the selected book titles intended for preschool children. In the main part of the work, the authors focus on describing the structure and the semantics of the individual ideonyms. The second part is in fact the functional look at the collected material. This is intended to lead to recognition of possible cultural and pedagogical trends in analyzed ideonyms.

Wybrane aspekty onomastyki literackiej w literaturze dla dzieci na przykładzie opowieści o Tappim Marcina Mortki

This article is a linguistic analysis of the onomastic layer taken from selected works by Marcin Mortka, which consists of two cycles of stories for children – 5 volumes of stories from the Tappi cycle and 10 volumes of short story collections from the Tappi and Friends cycle. In the analysis, the authors focus on proper names, which in their opinion are the most interesting and extensive linguistic element in Mortka’s work in terms of meaning and word formation. The onyms excerpted from the series about the Viking Tappi (over 200 names in total) are classified by the authors into groups representing different classes: anthroponyms, anthropomorphized zoonyms, toponyms and broadly understood chrematonyms, and the analysis focuses on structure, functions and motivations of these lexical units. At the same time, the authors intend the article to be the first in a series of papers on the onomastics of Marcin Mortka’s works.

Artykuł stanowi językoznawczą analizę warstwy onomastycznej zaczerpniętej z wybranych utworów Marcina Mortki, na które składają się dwa cykle opowiadań dla dzieci – pięć tomów opowieści z cyklu Tappi oraz dziesięć tomów zbiorów opowiadań z cyklu Tappi i przyjaciele. W analizie autorki skoncentrowały się na nazwach własnych, będących ich zdaniem najbardziej ciekawym i rozbudowanym znaczeniowo i słowotwórczo elementem językowym w twórczości Mortki. Onimy wyekscerpowane z serii o wikingu Tappim (łącznie ponad 200 nazw) zostały przez autorki sklasyfikowane w grupy reprezentujące różne klasy onimów: antroponimy, zantropomorfizowane zoonimy, toponimy oraz szeroko rozumiane chrematonimy, a ich analiza dotyczy budowy strukturalnej, funkcji i motywacji zastosowania tych jednostek leksykalnych. Artykuł jest jednocześnie w zamyśle autorek pierwszym z cyklu prac językoznawczych nad całokształtem onomastyki literackiej utworów Marcina Mrotki.
