The article is an account of the two-day conference on teaching Polish as a foreign language that took place i Paris in June 2013 under the title of "to teach Polish as a foreign language. Methods,contents and practices". The conference was organizedby Centre de civilisation polonaise (Paris-Sorbonne University)and CentrumPolonicum (University of Warsaw).The conference assembled specialists in methodology of language teaching from Polish and French University.

The article raises the issue of the lack of feminine versions of many names of professions, functions and positions, especially those regarded as prestigious. It shows the attempts made by feminists to create those names and introduce them into the language. It also displays discussions and controversies caused by this phenomenon.

This article presents the monograph L’influence de la psychanalyse sur la critique littéraire en France (1914–1939) which is a detailed characterization of the presence of psychoanalysis in the discourse of French literary criticism in the years 1914–1939. The development of the French psychoanalytic criticism during this pioneering era is by no means homogeneous. The analysis of critical works written in this period and relating to psychoanalysis reveals a clear evolution within this methodological orientation – from the first, often superficial or downright grotesque attempts at transplanting Freud’s method directly to the discourse concerning literature, to mature critical proposals, the latter only referring to psychoanalysis or creatively adapting it to their own purposes.

In the article, the most important communicative contexts of the vocative case usage in a contemporary Polish language are displayed. The article is an attempt of polemics with a popular thesis that knowledge of seventh case is not necessary to communicate in Polish. On the other hand, the author raises awareness of a progressive phenomenon of supplanting the vocative case by the nominative case.

The present article raises the issue of teaching Polish grammar, considered as particularly difficult and complicated, in the era when the communicative and ludic approach is the dominant one in the language pedagogy. The author tries to answer the question how to teach Polish inflection and verbal aspect in an efficient and, at the same time, attractive and amusing way. Few examples of ludic grammar exercises are presented in the article.

The article lists the most frequent mistakes related with the use of surnames in Polish, made by foreigners learning Polish, as well as by Polish native speakers. The paper raises mainly such issues as the most common declension patterns of Polish last names, different feminine forms of Polish family names, and the absence of surnames in Polish forms of address.

In this article the author describes her experience of teaching a three-week intensive course of Polish language and culture, titled Survival Polish and Introduction to Polish Culture, at the Kyungpook National University in Daegu, South Korea, in June and July 2017. The presentation of the course content and observations on Korean students’ interests and difficulties are accompanied by the description of the city of Daegu and different representative features of contemporary Korean culture and society. One major aspect of the article includes the similarities between Polish and Korean culture, observed by Korean students who prepared presentations on different Poland-related topics for a contest organized by the Polish Embassy in South Korea.

The paper is an account of a conference entitled Education of Foreigner Children organized by the UN Refugee Agency in Poland that took place in October 2016 in Warsaw. A delegation team of Polonicum Centre faculty and associates took part in one of the conference panels which was dedicated to teaching Polish as a foreign language: they gave a talk about Polonicum Centre, they led two workshops for teachers about integrating games into a class curriculum, and they presented a Polish textbook designed for Ukrainian teenagers.
