Jednym z podstawowych dylematów współczesnych stosunków międzynarodowych, związanych z zagadnieniem terroryzmu, jest rozróżnienie takich pojęć jak: terrorysta, partyzant i przestępca. Nie istnieją żadne powszechnie przyjęte przez społeczność międzynarodową definicje tych pojęć, co może prowadzić, i często prowadzi, do wielu nieporozumień i nadinterpretacji w tym zakresie. Autor artykułu podejmuje wyzwanie ich zdefiniowania, wskazania dzielących je różnic oraz określenia obszarów, w których trudno o ich jednoznaczną klasyfikację.

One of the most essential dilemmas in the current field of international relations regarding terrorism is how to differentiate the terms like terrorist, guerilla and criminal. There are no precise definitions in these cases what may often lead to their misunderstanding. The author tries to answer what the main differences between them are and how all these issues can be defined. In many examples the author presents the appropriate classifi cation of particular accidents referring to those categories. Finally, all the questionable aspects related to the process of proper classification were indicated in the text.
