Określenia wartości i uczuć-afektów zaczerpnięte zostały z „Retoryki” Arystotelesa oraz współczesnych podziałów uczuć. Ilustracją retoryki uczuć są wybrane polskie reportaże XX i XXI w. Uczuciami omówionymi w artykule są: gniew, litość, oburzenie, ambicja, lęk, odwaga, wstyd, współczucie, nuda, smutek, rozczarowanie, podziw, szacunek. Zostały też uwzględnione przykłady strategii perswazyjnych („ethos” i „pathos”) oraz językowego wyrażania emocji.

For the sake of the present analysis, definitions of values and emotions or affects are taken from Aristotle’s “Rhetoric” and from modern typologies of emotions. Selected Polish reportages of the 20th and 21st century have been chosen to illustrate the rhetoric of emotion. The paper elaborates on the following affects: anger, compassion, indignation, ambition, fear, courage, shame, sympathy, boredom, sadness, disappointment, admiration, respect. Examples of persuasive strategies (‘ethos’ and ‘pathos’) as well as linguistic expression of emotions are also taken into consideration.

The article deals with the phenomenon of anti-rhetorical polemics in the Romanticism - its causes and consequences. In the Romanticism the criticism of the rhetorical theory of rhetoric was accompanied by an anti-normative attitude. The aesthetic standards accepted by the Romanticists were the explanation for this somehow dual rebellion. The essay is an attempt to recreate the Romantic conceptions of style and the science of style. Research shows that the nineteenth century did not mean a complete rejection of rhetoric, but only a reduction in the theoretical issues. The didactic methods of grammar school and university seem to confirm the situation.

Media rhetoric consists of the inventive and eloquent dimensions of text. They are not only rhetorical genres but also specific rhetorical strategies. The article analyses various examples taken from different areas of journalism including sport, travel, religion, culture, nature, popular science, advice, politics, cookery, investigative and economic journalism.

The diary [Józef Tischner] Dziennik 1944–1949. Niewielkie pomieszanie klepek (Kraków: Wydawnictwo Znak 2014) was edited by Marian Tischner and Wojciech Bonowicz and it had been found after father Józef Tischner’s death. He wrote in it about his “biography and the past”. The publication is divided into two parts; the second one starts with his high school education i.e. in 1947. Some of his entries – “confessions about oneself and others” – were coded by the author (excerpts in French and Russian). They present the personality of the author at the age of 13-18 in the difficult time of his youth and adolescence. The diaries are the record of individual memory, they reconstruct the past and are a historical document of the war and post-war time; they also present a subjective and intimate image of the events. The author presents various forms of memory, which were applied by the author of the Diary.

The author analyses the presence of a religious factor in selected religious and social features. The analysis objects are texts by Jacek Tacik, Piotr Nestorowicz, Renzo and Robert Allegri, Włodzimierz Kalicki, Krzysztof Kąkolewski, Marcin Wójcika, Wojciech Bojanowski, Magdalena Grochowska, Beata Pawlak, Łukasz Wojtusik and WojciechTochman. In her research the author presents the clash between sacrum and profanum in the Church and overlapping investigative, political, medical, historical and travelling aspects. This text is an attempt to complement feature genres which are commonly used in scientific world by a feature with religious (confessional) subject.
