The article deals with life insurance of a dowry type treated by households as an alternative form of savings. The article points out and discusses motives and economic determinants of households’ propensity to save. The theories and theoretical models underlying the collection of financial resources by households have been taken into account, highlighting the importance of life insurance as a form of financial protection for the future of children, through the possibility of their supply in the form of a dowry policy. The essence and types of dowry products have also been discussed, taking into account the different types and structures of products. The condition and trends of changes in the Polish insurance market, including insurers, size and dynamics of gross premiums, have been presented, indicating the role of insurance for the supply of children in shaping the savings structure of households in Poland.

Artykuł dotyczy ubezpieczeń na życie o charakterze posagowym, traktowanych przez gospodarstwa domowe jako alternatywne formy gromadzenia oszczędności. W opracowaniu wskazano oraz omówiono motywy i ekonomiczne determinanty skłonności gospodarstw domowych do oszczędzania. Uwzględniono teorie i modele teoretyczne stanowiące podstawy gromadzenia środków finansowych przez gospodarstwa domowe, z podkreśleniem znaczenia ubezpieczeń na życie będących formą zabezpieczenia finansowej przyszłości dzieci przez możliwość ich zaopatrzenia w formie polisy posagowej. Omówiono ponadto istotę i rodzaje produktów posagowych z uwzględnieniem różnej konstrukcji i przebiegu produktów. Zaprezentowano stan oraz tendencje zmian na polskim rynku ubezpieczeń posagowych, z uwzględnieniem ubezpieczycieli, wielkości i dynamiki składki przypisanej brutto, wskazując rolę ubezpieczeń zaopatrzenia dzieci w kształtowaniu struktury oszczędności gromadzonych przez gospodarstwa domowe w Polsce.

The article deals with the functioning of systems characterized by the compulsory possession of private health insurance. It provides a general overview of how health insurance operates in selected countries, i.e. Australia, the Netherlands and Switzerland. The attention has been paid to active participation in the promotion of compulsory private health insurance and the taking of specific actions aimed at strengthening their participation. It has been indicated that subsidies and obligatory purchase are the most effective tools for promoting them alongside supporting mechanisms such as the offering of standardized products by insurers, co-financing and the imposition of penalties as a fiscal mechanism. The paper presents the features of the systems, the possibilities of their financing through the use of state subsidies and the amount of expenditures for involuntary participation in the health insurance system in relation to GDP in the analyzed countries

The article presents problem of covering financial needs by mortgage credit in context of appeasement housing needs during 2005–2009. The statistic ratios such as the housing availability assessment, assessment of satisfaction of housing needs and financial flats availability was used for this purpose. WAP was used to assess necessity of crediting housing purchase. The results showed that satisfying a need of financing housing purchase by mortgage credit at considered period, was on a good level. The purchase of housing properties was financed mainly by the mortgage credit, unfortunately the problem of residential needs in Poland is still unsatisfying.

W artykule przedstawiono problem zaspokajania potrzeb finansowania kredytem hipotecznym zakupów mieszkaniowych w kontekście zaspokajania potrzeb mieszkaniowych w latach 2005–2009. Do oceny badanego zjawiska wykorzystano wskaźniki statystyczne oceny dostępności mieszkań, zaspokojenia potrzeb mieszkaniowych oraz dostępności finansowej mieszkań. Do oceny zaspokojenia potrzeb kredytowania zakupów mieszkaniowych posłużono się wielowymiarową analizą porównawczą. Wyniki badań wykazały, iż poziom zaspokojenia potrzeb kredytowania zakupów mieszkaniowych w celu zaspokojenia potrzeb mieszkaniowych, w badanym okresie, był na dobrym poziomie. Zakup nieruchomości mieszkaniowych realizowany był głównie przy wykorzystaniu mieszkaniowego kredytu hipotecznego, niestety potrzeby mieszkaniowe w Polsce są ciągle niezaspokojone.

Research background: The risk management process is a key element in running a business. Moreover, it is basically one of the basic and most important internal processes in any company, regardless of its size. However, due to the extremely important role played by small and medium-sized enterprises in the economy, the problem of proper management of endogenous and exogenous risks becomes particularly important. Purpose of the article: The article aims to show the importance of risk management in the operations of modern enterprises in the SMEs sector and the attitudes of entrepreneurs towards key business risks. Methods: The research was based on data on 332 enterprises from the SMEs sector operating in Poland. The data was collected using the CSAQ method in the period from 12 of November 2019 to 9 of March 2020. The distribution of risk assessment in the studies was analysed using Tau Kendall statistics, while the risk management index was created by examining the attitudes of entrepreneurs towards individual risk factors. Findings & Value added: The results of the survey showed that three-quarters of enterprises did not manage risk in a formalized way and that decision-makers in enterprises often paid too little attention to the issues related to managing different types of risk. The article should, therefore, draw the attention of managers to the need to build appropriate procedures to enable effective risk management that creates opportunities for the safe operation of the enterprise. The added value of the work is a detailed analysis of the management of individual types of endogenous and exogenous risks, as well as an indication of what features of enterprises affect the effectiveness of actions taken in the field of controlling these risks. Research is valuable because of the small amount of studies that links managers' approaches to risk management with actual risk management effectiveness.
