Artykuł zawiera opis zmysłu węchu, jego rozwoju oraz działania. Ujęto w nim informację o pełnionych przez węch funkcjach i roli, jaką spełnia w codziennym życiu człowieka. Następnie dokonano przedstawienia charakterystyki zaburzeń węchu. Ostania część artykułu wiąże się z uzasadnieniem, dlaczego węch i jego upośledzenie miałyby być również przedmiotem badań nauki, którą jest logopedia.

The article contains a description of the sense of smell and its development. It includes information about the functions performed. Then the characteristics of olfactory disorders were presented. The last part of the article is connected with the justification why smell and its impairment would also be the subject of research in the science of speech therapy.

W niniejszym artykule zostanie poruszona problematyka motywacji do terapii logopedycznej na przykładzie osób po laryngektomii całkowitej. W Polsce wśród terapeutów mowy dominuje nastawienie ku rozwijaniu mowy zastępczej – przełykowej. Uczenie się mowy polegającej na odbiciu wymaga od samego pacjenta samodyscypliny, gotowości i pozytywnego nastawienia. Istotną rolę odgrywa także logopeda. Na początku zostanie opisane pojęcie motywacji, odniesienie tego zjawiska do terapii osób po laryngektomii całkowitej. W drugiej części umieszczone zostaną wyniki badań przeprowadzone w grupie osób po usunięciu krtani, uczestniczących w turnusie rehabilitacyjnym, w trakcie którego odbywały się zajęcia logopedyczne.

In this article there will be addressed the issue of motivation for speech therapy on the example of the total laryngectomy. In Poland, among speech therapists dominated attitude toward the development of speech-oesophageal replacement. Learning a language consisting in reflection requires from the patient self-discipline, willingness and a positive attitude. An important role is also played by the speech therapist. For a start, it will be described the concept of motivation and a reference of this phenomenon for the treatment of patients after total laryngectomy. In the second part, there will be placed in the results of studies conducted in patients after laryngectomy, who participated in a rehabilitation, during which were held speech therapy classes.
