The developmental aspects of experiencing threatening life eventsThe article presents the analysis of the results of two different studies carried out using the same PSPDQ1 (Psychic and Psycho-Social Defences Questionnaire) tool devised by myself. The method is closely related to my function-action approach to the psychological defence, so the main assumptions of this approach are described at the article. In both studies presented in the article the subjects were threatened by an incurable disease. In the first study the participants were 35 HIV positive drug addicts, whereas in the second one they were 30 mothers of disabled children. The results showed the dynamic character of the manifested defences at the moment of the first contact with the threat and after some years, when the subjects got used to it: the participants generally used relatively more constructive than nonconstructive defences or less nonconstructive onces.
